The Foundation FSSC 22000 was represented at the 2016 GFSI Global Food Safety Conference in Berlin last month by Chairman Fons Schmid and Managing Director Cornelie Glerum. During the Conference, delegates were invited to attend an FSSC 22000 Information lunch session which was very well received. Fons Schmid participated in the Scheme Owner (SO) panel to discuss and answer questions on the benefits of the GFSI recognized schemes and how to ensure the integrity of certificates issued by the schemes. The outcome of the Conference was very positive with the overall agreement that the future offers many opportunities for change and new ways to achieve our goals. Of course FSSC 22000, as the fastest growing GFSI recognized scheme, will follow up on all opportunities to make the food world safer.
GFSI Technical Working Group (TWG) meetings were held after the conference and joined by our team of experts. Fons Schmid participated in the new TWG on Food Safety Culture, the vision of which is to drive progress in appreciation of the need for organizational and behavioral change, while Aldin Hilbrands (Technical Director), Bob Readel (IP Assessor) and Cornelie Glerum were actively involved in other Working Groups.
