FSSC 22000 adds scope Animal Production

On 26 February 2015, we published a complete set of new scheme documents, version 3.2, to include Animal Production in compliance with ISO/TS 22002-3: 2011, prerequisite programs on food safety - Part 3: Farming. The FSSC 22000 scope is limited to farming animals, fish and the on farm primary production of animal products (e.g. milk, fish, eggs, honey).

In scheme document Part I, two new additional requirements to become certified are included. First, Management of natural resources such as water and soil with regard to animal production. Second, food defence, bio vigilance and bioterrorism (extension to animal production). Certification Bodies need to comply with the mandatory auditor competence requirements (FSSC scheme documents Part II). The new scheme documents also include the link with the voluntary FSSC 22000-Q Module.

The GFSI recognized version 3 remains applicable to the certification of Food Manufacturing and Food Packaging. Download version 3 here. Version 3.1 of the FSSC 22000 scheme documents remain applicable to the certification of Animal Feed. Download version 3.1 here.

Certification Bodies can apply for a license to deliver Animal Production certification. To become a licensed CB, the standard procedure applies.
